Among the IITs, only IIT Kharagpur has the distinction of having Agricultural and Food Engineering Department. The Department has been established on a broad pattern and takes up research in interdisciplinary areas with an integrated approach of science and technology. It has a wide-ranging postgraduate programme in six specializations and offers research programmes in diverse areas. The undergraduate and postgraduate teaching is well established and has been well received by the industries and other organizations.
