DEPARTMENT OF HUMANITIES AND SOCIAL SCIENCES


The Department of Humanities and Social Sciences has the distinction of offering, in collaboration with other departments, an MTech course in Human Resource Development and Management. It is an interdisciplinary course and covers different aspects of management of human resources and problems of human management systems in industrial and other organizations. The Department has a strong base of research in various areas of humanities and social sciences with particular relevance to industrial environment. The faculty members undertake projects and conduct training programmes in varied areas of man-management. The Department has a well-equipped Language Laboratory, a Psychology Laboratory, a Neuropsychology Laboratory and a Computer Laboratory. The Department offers MTech degree in:

Course Contains :

Core Subject

Management of Human Resources, Business Economics, Industrial Relations, Manpower Economics, Effective Communication Lab, Behavior Dynamics Lab, Human Resource Development Lab. Emphasis is laid on seminars as well as group discussions in first two semesters.

Electives

Human Behaviour Systems, Organizational Behaviour, Development Economics and Applied Economic Problem, Statistical Analysis, Programming and Data Structure, Project Management, System Dynamic and Policy Planning, Quantitative Methods for Management, Production and Operations Management, Financial Management, Development of Human Resources, Environmental Setting of Social-technical Systems, Econometrics and Business forecasting, Industrial Labour Laws, Research Methodology and Data Analysis, Interpersonal Communication, Business Values and Ethics, IT and Management of Information Systems, Operations Research, Enterprise Resource Planning, Management of Technology, Supply Chain Management. The students will take three electives each in first two semesters. The contents of the courses are especially tailored to meet the needs of modern managerial jobs, particularly in the areas of human resource development and management, and general administration. After the course work, students do project work for two semesters leading to a dissertation on a relevant industrial problem under competent supervision of faculty and persons from Industry. This facilitates learning by doing.
